Clues, Cash, Pieces of Murder

Milo Rathkey Mysteries book six has been released by the formatting elves of the forest and is now available on Amazon. Clues, Cash, Pieces of Murder involves a puzzle contest, a murdered man who bought seven winter hats in May, and a police consultant who almost bought too many batteries at a hardware store. We don’t want to say anymore lest we give too much away.

The Elves have it!

Book Six, Clues, Cash, Pieces of Murder has been sent to the elves in the forest for formatting. The elves usually take less than a week and then the book can be published. We were trying to publish at the end of August, but it looks like it will happen in the first week of October. For those on our email list, a notification will come as soon as it appears on Amazon. Thanks for your patience.

Best Laid Plans and All That

We were hoping to publish book six by the end of August but the Covid virus had other plans. We were forced to entertain this uninvited visitor for several weeks, putting us behind. The book is written, going through the editing process. If there are no further delays we should publish it before the end of September.

First Draft of Book Six is Done

Book Six First Draft Is Done

We have finished the first draft of book six. The working title is “Book Six.” We suspect that will change with time. We like our new suspects, well most of them.  Now we begin the task of rewriting the first draft. This is where we consume popcorn, potato chips, and an undue amount of orange diet soda (or pop as Milo would say.)

Hardcovers

CREATE YOUR OWN LIBRARY

Amazon has discovered that some readers like hardcover books. After some serious Photoshop sessions (the paperback cover doesn’t fit on the hardcover without adjustments)  we are proud to offer all five of our books in hardcover form. However, the frog with a book in his lap does not come with the hardcover.

Just When You Think You Know Someone

JUST WHEN YOU THINK YOU KNOW SOMEBODY

As we work through the initial writing of book six, our new characters are starting to come into focus. They’re much different than how we outlined them in January. It’s funny how characters keep changing on us. You just can’t count on fictional people.

New Book…New Characters

We have begun writing book six of the Milo Rathkey Mysteries. This is always a bittersweet time as we say goodbye to the characters of our last book (some of whom may reappear in future books).  Now we meet new characters. It’s like going to a party where there are a few familiar faces, but we don’t yet know the new people.

Sea Smoke

We mention sea smoke in several of our books. Readers have asked what sea smoke looks like. This dear readers is sea smoke. The clouds rolling into the bridge are over open water. It’s a phenomenon that occurs quite a bit in Duluth during the winter months.

Book Five Slightly Delayed

Book Five Snap Zap Murder will be a little delayed due a backup with the people who do our formatting. We had hoped to publish before Christmas, but now it won’t happen until after the first of the year. If you are on our email list we will notify you when the book is available. In the meantime we are on to book six.
